How can i register as a blood donor? |

To register yourself as a blood donor click on the link Register as Donor or Register Free which is |

available in all the pages of the site. Once you click this button you will be taken to a registration |

page where you have to furnish the required details. Once you do this you will become a regis- |

tered member of this site and your name will be viewable to the recipients searching for donors. |

What should i do to find out whether i am eligible to donate blood ? |

To know whether you are eligible to donate blood please click on the link eligibility rules which is |

available on the registration page. In case you are interested to know more details please consult |
| |
your physician. |

How can i update my profile? |

At the time of registration you will have to select your user name (your email id - for uniqueness) |

and a password of your choice. Once you click submit an automated message will be sent to your l |

mail id confirming your registration and also giving you your user name and password. Please |

preserve this mail for future reference. You will be using this email id and password to login and u |
| |
update your profile. To update your profile please click on the link Donor Login which is available in |

the pages of this site. |

Why Profile update? |

you may have to update your profile in the following situation: |

* When there is a change in your contact details.(esp.contact numbers) |
| |
* When you have already donated blood (or for any other reason), if you dont want your profile to |
| |
shown in the search result for a particular period of time. |

How much blood can be taken? |

Our body has 5.5 ltr of blood of which only 350 ml - 450 ml of blood is taken depending upon |
| |
weight of the donor. Majority of healthy adults can tolerate withdrawal of one unit of blood. The |
| |
withdrawn blood volume is restored within 24 hours and the hemoglobin and cell components are |
| |
restored in 2 months. Therefore it is safe to donate blood every three months. |

Is Donating Blood painful? |

Donating Blood is not painful and is completely safe for the donor. It takes approximately 5 |
| |
minutes to donate blood and about 10 minutes for post donating rest and refreshment. Only 350 |
| |
to 450 ml blood is taken which gets replaced in the body within 24 hours. |

Are there any side-effects of Blood donation? |

No! Your health will not suffer because of the blood you have donated. This, in fact, stimulates the |
| |
bone marrow to produce new cells. Some of the first time donors might psychologically feel a little |
| |
dizzy but that will happen only for few minutes. |
